Learning Outcomes
- Use critical thinking, writing, and speaking skills, as well as information literacy
- Define and use key concepts, terminology, and theoretical frameworks central to the interdisciplinary field of Gender Studies
- Analyze complex interconnections of gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, and other categories of power and identity in various spheres of human endeavor ranging from the sociopolitical to the aesthetic
- Demonstrate an openness to learning about people, cultures, and societies different from themselves and their own worlds
- Understand and analyze forces shaping individual experiences as well as social structure and institutions such as the family, workplace, and media
- Situate themselves among various strands of feminist thought and envision themselves as participants in a multidisciplinary dialogue with activists, artists, and academics regarding social, political, and cultural issues of gender and sexuality
- Apply central concepts and theories from Gender Studies to their own life experiences and the world around them
