Additional Information About Fall 2020 Options
Dear Student,
Based on what we are hearing in response to the launch of our Fall 2020 Reopening website, you need to know more now about fall attendance options and housing. Here are some details:
Online? In-Person? Both?
To be clear: If you would like to take all of your classes online this fall, you can. Early next week, we will have a process in place for you to indicate if you would like to take this option or if you plan to come to campus.
There is one thing to keep in mind: a few classes—for example, some studio and performing arts, labs, and physical education—will have a required in-person component. The list of courses that require in-person attendance will be available early next week. If you are enrolled in one of those courses and prefer to do distance learning for the fall semester, you will need to change your schedule. The information you receive early next week will include instructions on how to do that.
Housing for Fall and Beyond
Giving you the flexibility to choose remote learning complicates the logistics of making housing assignments. We can’t finalize these arrangements until we know who will be on campus. If you signed up for housing but will not be coming to campus for the fall semester, we need to know as soon as possible. As a reminder to returning students, if you let us know your plans by July 30, we can guarantee that you will receive your housing deposit back. We hope to communicate roommate and housing assignments by August 7, and hearing from you soon will help us meet that goal. Contact Campus Living with questions.
Hopefully some of you who are not coming to campus this fall will be ready to come this spring. While we cannot guarantee that there will be space in the residence halls for you, we will do everything we can to accommodate students who wish to live on campus during the spring semester.
More Questions, More Answers
You’ve raised many other excellent questions in response to the Fall 2020 Reopening website, and we are working on answers. We plan to be in touch with you frequently between now and the start of the school year to share decisions as we make them. Keep your questions coming, and know that we are counting the days until classes are back in session and we can welcome you (back) to L&C, virtually or in-person.
