CAS Mask Mandate Extended Through at Least April 2, 2022
Dear CAS students, faculty and staff,
Spring break is almost here, a welcome respite from all of this semester’s activity. Many of you will travel over the break, which coincides with both a widespread loosening of some COVID restrictions and an uptick in COVID cases on our campus.
Given these variables, we have decided to implement two break-related COVID mitigation strategies:
-
The indoor mask mandate will remain in place on the CAS campus through at least Saturday, April 2. Note that mask requirements at the law and graduate campus may be different than those on the CAS campus and will be communicated and/or posted as necessary.
-
Residential CAS students will be required to undergo COVID antigen testing upon their return to campus. The college will provide these tests free of charge to all residential CAS students. Details on this testing will be shared shortly with residential students.
As a reminder to all of you who are traveling, if you develop COVID symptoms prior to your planned departure, or during your travels, please self-isolate and seek medical consultation. Do not return to campus if you are symptomatic, unless you have been cleared by a healthcare professional. Also note that masks are required on public transportation and in transportation hubs through April 18.
Beyond these requirements, each of you should consider your own risk factors to decide if masking remains part of your individual COVID-19 protective practices over the break. Masks are effective at reducing disease transmission. For members of our community who are themselves vulnerable or live with people vulnerable to severe illness, proper masking is an essential way to limit infection for yourself and minimize the risk of transmission to others.
Whether you are enjoying a vacation, relaxing on a staycation, or planning to study and work, we hope you enjoy your Spring Break week.
