Dr. John Hancock to Depart L&C for New Position at University of Northern Colorado
“My wife and I moved to Portland 15 years ago, and now with our two children out on their own, we felt the time was right for a change,” John said. “UNC is in Greeley, which is quite close to my spouse’s family, and also closer to my family. It will be good to be closer to family again.”
John has not only been intricately involved in improving the overall student experience for our students at LC, but most recently in playing an integral role in our successful COVID response. Under John’s leadership, LC was successful in securing a federal grant from the Office of Violence Against Women that allowed us to improve our prevention and response to interpersonal violence, stabilized staffing in the Counseling and Health Center, created a myriad of prevention policies in our fight against COVID, served as Chief Psychologist for all three campuses, and implemented various medical and psychological technologies that improved the overall efficiencies of the Health and Counseling Center operations.
John Hancock recently received the Division of Student Life’s highest award: the Mark Duntley Award.
“John’s commitment to the student experience and making sure that every student is safe and served well has always been a major commitment that John accomplished every day,” Vice President for Student Life Robin Holmes-Sullivan said. “His presence, expertise and passion will be sorely missed.”
John’s last day on campus will be Friday, July 29. Please feel free to reach out to him to bade him a goodbye and farewell. In the interim, Robin Holmes-Sullivan and incoming Vice President for Student Life Evette Castillo-Clark will be working with the the various wellness departments on an interim leadership plan to fill the gap of John’s absence. Details of those plans will be provided shortly.
Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students is located in East Hall on the Undergraduate Campus.
