Rev. Mark Duntley Award
This award was created to honor Dean of Spiritual Life Rev. Mark Duntley upon his retirement in 2021 and acknowledge Mark’s contributions to the spiritual well-being of the greater L&C community. Each year, one or more rising sophomore, junior, or senior students receive the award. The recipients will receive an award valued between $400-500.
The following characteristics represent the spirit of this award:
- Spirit of giving and caring
- Enthusiasm for life
- Keen appreciation for the human condition and spirituality
- Good natured, friendly, and approachable
- Demonstrates integrity and empathy
- Values community, inclusion and equity

Troy Ridenour Memorial Award
Each year a student in the rising sophomore or junior class is awarded the Troy Ridenour Award. Troy passed away of leukemia in the fall of 1987, and this award was established by his relatives and friends to honor a rising sophomore or junior student who embodies Troy’s values and jubilant spirit. A scholarship usually in the $500-$700 range is awarded to the winner.
The qualities the selection committee seeks in choosing an award winner are:
- Connection to others and groups here on campus
- A friendly and caring personality
- Strong leadership capabilities and self-motivated
- Involvement in campus activities
- A good sense of humor
- Academic potential
- An ability to make others feel at ease with themselves
Submit your Troy Ridenour Memorial Award Nominations by March 7th.
The Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students and the award selection committee will review all nominations and select a recipient. The winners will be announced in early April 2025. L&C wins pair of championships at national tournaments
Lewis & Clark’s speech and debate program won a pair of championships at national tournaments. The team of Maltin Tocani (’25) and Isabella Moore (’26) won the Honors division at the YODL national British Parliamentary debate championships, while the Lewis & Clark contingent at the National Speech Tournament won the team title in the limited entry category.
