Nico Vilches ’26 Vocal Competition Winner

Senior voice major and student of Susan McBerry, Nico Vilches ’26, was second runner up in a National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in Portland, Oregon.

The two singers who placed above Vilches are both professional singers and teachers of singing. Nico was the youngest competitor.

The National Association of Teachers of Singing’s Young Artist Competition requires an entire classical recital plus two arias to be chosen randomly by the judges. Congratulations to him and his pianist, Susan McDaniel!
