
Dr. Rachele McCarthey received her BA in sociology/anthropology from Lewis & Clark College and her medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. She completed her residency in the triple board program (pediatrics, psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry) at the University of Utah.
She is a member of the child and adolescent psychiatry division at the University of Utah. Dr. McCarthey is board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, general psychiatry and pediatrics. She is an outpatient psychiatrist and medical director of the University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute’s Behavioral Health Clinics. Her clinical interests include general child and adolescent psychiatry, eating disorders, anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. She works with special populations including college, Olympic and professional athletes with mental health concerns. Dr. McCarthey is also interested in refugee psychiatry providing psychiatric care at Utah Health and Human Rights, an organization dedicated to treating survivors of torture. Dr. McCarthey educates medical students, residents and advanced practice clinicians. Dr. McCarthey is interested in working toward solutions to increase access to mental health care through innovation and collaboration.
