Joe directs the Lewis & Clark Career Accelerator initiative promoting career exploration and development at every stage of L&C students’ college experience. Before joining the L&C community, Joe was an associate professor in Human Development and director of the Center for Transformational Learning & Leadership at Washington State University. He holds a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and a PhD in Communication from WSU. He taught courses and facilitated workshops on leadership, communication, career development, and emotional intelligence. Programs he led or co-facilitated include Values-based Leadership Training for Women in STEM (VAuLTS) for midcareer women faculty in STEM fields, the LIFT Faculty Fellowship introducing psychosocial pedagogical interventions to support student success, the Core to Career Faculty Fellowship incorporating NACE career competencies into general education courses, a Leadership Minor, and a Mindful Emotional and Social Intelligence (MESI) Certificate. Outside of work he enjoys running, travel, craft beverages and food, and spending time with his four children.
