Frequently Asked Questions
Students will spend two weeks living on campus, immersed in the study of theatre and all its forms. They will attend classes during the day—focusing on scene study, vocal performance, dance, movement, playwriting, acting, auditioning, and more—and rehearse a final production at night. There will be opportunities to attend professional theatre in the Portland area, and the program will culminate in a public performance, showcasing what the students have learned and rehearsed.
The opportunity for students to both deepen their knowledge and practice of the art form of theatre in a collegiate atmosphere—while simultaneously experiencing what it is like to live on a college campus—is invaluable. The ISTP is truly a two-week preview of what attending Lewis & Clark College in the Department of Theatre will be like.
Any rising sophomore, junior, or senior in high school who is serious about pursuing theatre as a field of study or a profession should apply. The ISTP is designed to be fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, and challenging. Students who are self-motivated, have a desire to be pushed outside their comfort zone, or who relish a challenge will thrive in the program.
The program is designed to accept a cohort of up to 35 students, so space is limited. The sooner you apply the more likely it is you will be accepted. Students who apply after the camp has been filled will be placed on a waitlist on a rolling basis.
The tuition for the ISTP is $3,500 which includes all food and lodging during the two weeks on campus, transportation to and from the airport and all program events, tuition for classes and instruction, masterclasses and guest artists, and tickets to all professional performances and off-campus events.
The ISTP program dates for this year are June 21–July 4, 2026 on campus at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
There are a limited number of partial scholarships available on a first-come-first-served basis, for those who demonstrate a need. These funds are limited, however, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to increase your chances of securing a scholarship.
