After Lewis & Clark
The Health Studies minor was launched in the 2020–21 academic year and our first graduates will arrive in the spring of 2021. Every year, many Lewis & Clark students go on to graduate studies and careers in health-related fields:
- Saman Wijesooriya ’02, Master of Public Health (MPH) from Emory University, works with the Task Force for Global Health.
- Linnaea Schuttner ’06, MD and MPH from University of Washington, works as a physician-investigator at the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System.
- Jessica Johnson ’06, MPH from Oregon State University, is a current candidate for a Doctorate of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
- Tess Gilbert ’08, Master of Health Sciences (MHS) in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University, works as a senior research associate at the Veterans Affairs Portland Health Care System.
- Amy Baugher ’08, MPH in Epidemiology from Emory University, works as a health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Julie Robertson ’08, MPH and Master of Social Work (MSW) from Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU), works as the director of grant development and continuous improvement, Clark College (Vancouver, Washington).
- Nicolia Eldred-Skemp ’08, MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University, works as a data analyst for the City of Boulder, Colorado.
- Allison Sweeney ’10, PhD in Social and Health Psychology from Stony Brook University, works as an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina.
- Rachel Shelton ’11, Master of Science (MS) in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina, works as a pediatric occupational therapist.
- Illana Livstrom ’13, MS in Science Education and current PhD candidate in STEM Education at the University of Minnesota.
- Jackson Thein ’18, MPH from the University of Edinburgh, works as a legislative correspondent in the office of Senator Jeff Merkley for Oregon where he manages a portfolio including healthcare, education, and LGBT+ policy issues.
- Jesus Ramirez Del Muro ’22, works as a regional care coordinator for Project Access Now. Jesus plans to pursue a MPH degree in health advocacy and promotion.
