Future Health Leaders: Care Begins Here
A summer program for high school students interested in health and healing.
Program Dates: July 13-18, 2025
Are you passionate about health and healing? Are you curious about healthcare professions? Are you motivated to provide care for your community and the people around you? Join us on the beautiful Lewis & Clark College campus!
During our precollege summer program, students will discover the science behind health innovations by spending time in research labs at Lewis & Clark and nearby Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Participating in mini-med school will be an exciting way to dive into healthcare careers and receive certification in CPR. Students will practice public health communications by working with their peers on a Public Service Announcement project, and they will receive certification in a research-based writing practice designed to reduce stress and build connections between patients and their providers.
Spend your week making new friends who may one day be future healthcare colleagues. You will leave camp with a number of personal and professional connections, new hands-on skills and leadership experiences, a deeper understanding of healthcare careers, and a leg up in your pursuit of health-related studies.
Program Tuition: $1,800
Earn at Least $20,000 in Scholarship Funds to Attend L&C*
Students who complete a precollege summer program and are later admitted to L&C will get preferential consideration for merit-based aid and are guaranteed to receive a minimum of $20,000/year in renewable scholarship funding in the form of a Sequoia or Oregon Maple scholarship.
*Sequoia or Oregon Maple academic merit scholarships granted at the time of admission will already take into account any participation in a Lewis & Clark precollege summer program. Students with strong academic credentials who attend a precollege summer program and are later admitted to Lewis & Clark may find they are eligible for a Sequoia or Oregon Maple scholarship that exceeds the $20,000/year guaranteed minimum!

What to Expect
The Future Health Leaders camp is run by Lewis & Clark’s Center for Community and Global Health (CCGH), where we demonstrate how the liberal arts and sciences provide an ideal foundation for health-related college coursework and careers. The CCGH brings together multidisciplinary perspectives that give us an appreciation for healing in many forms. From the physical to social to systemic, we explore the many domains of study that connect to health. Our one-week camp offers exposure to cutting-edge research labs at L&C and OHSU, training in specific health-related skills such as CPR, a “mini-med school” where students are introduced to a range of health professionals and techniques used in their practices, public health communications, and the practice of narrative medicine.
Community and Global Health is located in room 307 and 309 of JR Howard Hall on the Undergraduate Campus.
