Diplomat in Residence
Former United States Ambassador Niels Marquardt BA ’75 is our diplomat in residence—an amazing resource for students interested in international affairs, entrepreneurship, foreign service, and other fields of study with a global focus.

Gaining professional experience beyond the classroom can expand your skills, clarify career direction, and open doors to future opportunities. Our robust online Resource Library provides guidance on how you can find a job or internship, as well as tips on how to create resumes or cover letters, network, and improve your interviewing skills. This on-demand library is available whenever you need it.

Our Core Services
We are committed to setting you up for success while you explore your next steps after graduating. Our core services include career and graduate school advising, internship and job search planning and resources, and networking events. 1:1 Advising
Whether you are looking for an internship or job or preparing for graduate school, we’ll help you develop your application materials, practice for an interview, establish a personalized search strategy, and more. You can meet with our staff once, for several weeks, or check in every few months to keep you focused. Have a quick question? During the academic year, our peer career advisors are available for drop-in appointments—no appointment necessary!
Job and Internship Search Support
An internship offers you a chance to gain first-hand, practical experience in the real working world, and can help you decide if you want to pursue a career in a particular field. Approximately 80 percent of hires are found through networking or making connections, so an internship is a great place to start. We can also help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct an effective and focused job search. Learn to create a powerful resume and cover letter, network in a field, and polish your interviewing skills.
Events and Programs
Throughout the year we host events for you to connect with alumni and employer partners in various fields and industries, including career fairs, panels, networking opportunities, and more. For example, our recurring Career Trek series is an opportunity to get an in-person look at various companies and industries while connecting with successful alumni, and our Resume Challenges are a fun way to get tips on resume writing, connect with our staff, and earn raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes!
Alumni Connections
The Career Center offers a variety of opportunities for alumni of all decades to connect with current students and each other. Alumni have unlimited access to our services for the first three years after graduation, and alumni of 5+ years can have one advising session with referrals to additional resources. Our LinkedIn group, Lewis & Clark College Career Network, is a great way for alumni to connect to students and share career knowledge and expertise.

We offer many ways employers can connect, recruit, and engage with our students. We’re here to help employers post your open jobs, attend a career fair, and increase brand awareness on campus.
