Respondent Support Staff

Even if you know you aren’t likely to face severe outcomes, being documented for a policy violation can be a difficult experience for some students. To help students navigate this process, CACE has worked to train a group of staff to support students who may be navigating informal resolutions or formal adjudication.

What these staff can do:

  • Review reports or evidence with you
  • Advise you on how the adjudication processes work and things you should be doing to prepare
  • Attend a CACE meeting or hearing with you
  • Help email CACE or other resources with questions you may have
  • Help connect you to campus resources that can support your mental and physical wellbeing

What these staff cannot do:

  • Give you legal advice or advice on what you should say or do during a meeting or hearing
  • Speak on your behalf during a hearing
  • Write an appeal or witness statement on your behalf

If you wish to request assistance from a Respondent Support Staff, you can email CACE at cace@lclark.edu or reach out to our currently train staff directly.

If you do not want to request a Respondent Support Staff but you would like to bring a support person or advisor of your choosing, we ask that you email CACE to let us know ahead of time. Please note that this person will not be permitted to talk for you during the meeting, and we will request that you complete a Release of Information with the Registrar’s Office to allow us to speak to them.
