CACE & Student Conflict

Part of the mission of the Office of Community Accountability & Conflict Education is to hold space for conflict resolution amongst the students on Lewis & Clark College’s CAS campus. We in the CACE office see conflict as a natural part of the human experience, albeit a challenging part to manage for many of us.

The CACE office may assist with a student conflict in one of three ways:

  1. In resolving a policy violation that may be tied to an interpersonal conflict, CACE has the option to engage in an Informal Resolution Process as outlined in the Code of Conduct
  2. At the request of a student or students who may need help with resolving a personal conflict.
  3. By helping individual students grow their own comfortability and competency around conflict through our various conflict educational workshops.

Our Assistant Dean of Students, Jessica Carron, oversees much of the conflict education and resolution options in CACE. Along with her work in residence life and student conduct over the last 10 years, Jessica has completed a 40 hour mediation training at Portland Community College and completed a Restorative Justice Basic Practitioner Training with the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding. Reach out to CACE or Jess directly to learn more about support options available to you.
