Applications for the 2025 New Student Peer Mentor (NSPM) Positions open November 18th.

NSPMs guide a group of new students during New Student Orientation and into the fall semester! Peer Mentors are enthusiastic, creative, and caring students who want to help build community and connections with and for new students.

In addition to New Student Peer Mentors, the First-Year Experience is also looking for two hourly student workers interested in planning Orientation and supporting peer mentors during the fall semester!

  • First-Year Experience (FYE) Student Director Position:
    The FYE student director position is a summer and fall position, and will continue minimally through the 2026 spring semester. As the FYE Student Director you will work in collaboration with the First-Year Experience Office in developing the orientation program and schedule for incoming students, attend to the day-to-day details associated with the planning and execution of New Student Orientation, and assist in the recruitment, training, and co-supervision of the New Student Peer Mentors.

  • First-Year Experience (FYE) Student Coordinator:
    The FYE student coordinator position is a summer position that will begin mid-July and continue through New Student Orientation. The FYE Student Coordinator will assist the FYE Student Director and First-Year Experience office with program preparations related to the peer mentor program and orientation during summer and through the start of the academic year. The student coordinator will be responsible for leading new student peer mentor training, coordinating aspects of the peer mentor program, assisting with evening programming, and acting as a secondary contact for FYE leadership. The student coordinator will also work on newsletters, social media engagement, and tend to student and mentor support needs.
