Food and Housing Insecurity

This cohort was created with the intention of engaging Lewis & Clark College students and community members with issues of housing and food insecurity on campus and in the Portland area. Through this immersive program, participants will have the opportunity to volunteer with Blanchet House, engage in community events addressing housing and/or food insecurity and join dialogues and discussions to actively contribute to efforts improving people’s access to housing and food.

Why is this cohort important?

Housing and food insecurity is one of the most pressing issues in Portland. This Cohort seeks to educate students and community members about the structural and systemic causes of Houselessness while offering tangible ways to support those who are unhoused. Through direct engagement and education, we aim to shift perceptions, foster empathy, and create advocates for long-term solutions.
