Wellness at Lewis & Clark

At Lewis & Clark, we are committed to the success of each of our students. We believe that holistic wellness—mind, body, and soul—is imperative to that success. We also recognize that not all of our students have the same college journey or the same need for support. This is why we offer wellness resources in many forms: academic, mental, physical, spiritual, and more.

Mental and Emotional Well-being

Many of our students can feel overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed due to the stress of academics, work, family, relationships, the world, and more. This stress can often directly affect your physical health, too. We believe in prioritizing the mental and emotional wellness of our students so they may reach their academic and personal potential. We offer many ways to connect with others to get the help and support you need.

Mental Wellness Clubs and Organizations

There are plenty of student clubs and events that help promote mental wellness in a fun way!

  • Our DeStress Fest is a week full of events to help students relieve stress as they prepare for finals.
  • Our Group Nap believes rest is resistance. Inspired by Tricia Hersey and The Nap Ministry, community members are invited to come together and rest for as little or as long as they need.
  • Meditation and mindfulness workshops happen in many forms: as nature walks, as spiritual life gatherings, as a student club, and even as part of an academic symposium on the apocalypse!
  • Art for Social Change is a committee of students, staff, and faculty who use art to create space for healing and challenge and dismantle systems of oppression.

Spiritual Wellness

Taking care of your whole self is essential to wellbeing. Our Center for Spiritual Life offers a wide variety of opportunities and programs for the Lewis & Clark community. Together we celebrate the diversity of our community and focus on belonging, becoming, and connecting beyond ourselves.

Equity and Inclusion

The members of Lewis & Clark’s community represent a wide array of ages, cultures, backgrounds, gender identities, nationalities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, and beliefs. We embrace them all, and we are committed to supporting a culture of respect and safety for all students. Every student should feel safe and supported, have equity of access to resources, and enjoy a learning environment free from all forms of abuse.

Physical Well-being

Through classes, activities, and resources, students learn to recognize and experience the positive benefits of building physical well-being and self-care habits, explore aspects of the body’s structure and function, and engage in experiences within a group or community setting.

Active Clubs and Organizations

Moving your body and getting outdoors is a great way to relieve stress and build a community. We have eight club sports (like rugby, sailing, and Ultimate Frisbee), plus plenty of other active clubs like Climbing Club, Garden Collective, and Ski and Snowboard Club, just to name a few.

Academic Resources

One of the benefits of our personal approach to education is that we provide many resources to support students both in and outside of the classroom. The students who succeed at L&C are the ones who take advantage of the academic support resources available to them.

Financial Wellness

Managing your money is a big deal! We want to help you be successful with your financial life—from repaying student loans to creating a realistic budget, saving for a goal, and beyond.
