L&C Unanimously: Anastacia Dillon

What is your role at Lewis & Clark?
I am the Director of Financial Aid. In our office, we have the privilege of serving students from all three schools. I’m also the chair of the Institutional Data and Standards Council – a group that works to establish and maintain consistent policies and practices related to information systems and the college’s data across the institution.
Why do you support Lewis & Clark?
Every year, families approach our office with questions about the value of attending Lewis & Clark – given that we’re rarely the least expensive option available to them. I truly believe in the transformative power of what we do here at L&C and know that it takes a broad base of financial support from alums, families, as well as faculty and staff members to make it all work. I also see the real impact that giving has on our students. I get to talk with students about why they should attend L&C and also get to give out grants and scholarships to needy and deserving students as a part of my job, so I figure I need to put my money where my mouth is and help fund those awards – even in a small way.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with family: husband Dave, son Nathan who is a sophomore in college, and daughter Julia who is in 6th grade.
Travel: Trips in the past have taken us around the Western US, Washington DC, Chicago, Iceland, China, and Japan. I should be able to cross Alaska off my list this coming summer. It’s my last western state to visit! Next up after that will likely be Italy and/or Norway. Feel free to forward any recommendations!
Reading: Usually I read mystery novels set in international locations and anything about Japan, but lately I’ve also read a number of books outside of those categories that have been free on my Kindle.
What is your favorite part about working at Lewis & Clark?
I am blessed to work with a wonderful group of caring, thoughtful, hard-working people! Every day is different and every day I have the opportunity to make an impact – on students, co-workers, making systems and processes work better…Plus, I truly enjoy the many ways my work connects me to the other wonderful people who are a part of the L&C community.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?
I was recently elected President of the Oregon Association of Financial Aid Administrators and will start serving my term in January.
