Young Alumni: We Want You!
We have a challenge for young alumni this season of giving!

We are on a mission to engage young alumni!
Recent college graduates are often less likely to be active members of their alumni community, and Lewis & Clark is no exception. This season, Peggy BA ’76 and Dave Albertine have offered a generous challenge incentive and will match all young alumni (graduates of the 2010 to 2024 classes) $2 to $1.
We hope this will motivate our recent graduates to give what they can, knowing that their contributions will have double the impact.
Being an engaged alumnus is more than financial, however. It can mean volunteering on the Young Alumni Council, or L&C Philanthropy Council, coming to campus for theater and musical performances, lectures, or student mentoring events at the Career Center, or attending Alumni Weekend or Homecoming.
There are many ways to get involved as Marisol Jenkins BA ’15 and Erin Khong BA ’21, MA ’23, can attest!
Both loved their experiences at Lewis & Clark and are still actively involved with the school, trying to encourage other young alumni to join them in connecting and supporting the college as best they can.
Marisol was very active with connecting students as an undergraduate, so it’s no wonder she is now on L&C’s Board of Alumni engaging alumni. She is also a member of the Junior League of Oakland, volunteering on the diversity, equity, and inclusion committee.
“Many young alumni have indicated that they would feel more engaged if the fundraising campaigns and communications were more targeted and personalized based on their interests,” said Marisol. “So that is one area of focus.”
Erin is the assistant director of inclusion and multicultural engagement, and sits on the Young Alumni Council. She was active in sports and community events during school, particularly the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and has continued to attend sporting events and keep informed with school happenings by reading the alumni newsletters she receives and participating in Alumni Weekend.
“Cultures vary in every aspect of life and from every single individual that you meet,” said Erin. “My favorite part of engaging with alumni is hearing all of the alumni stories, how we have similar experiences, and the traditions still going on for the institution.”
