What three words would you use to describe L&C?
How would you describe sustainability at L&C?
Lewis & Clark College is commendable for the strides they have made to be more sustainable. L&C has been LEED certified for a number of years, committed to ecology, and renewable energy. In addition, the student culture encourages collective, sustainable actions.
What’s your involvement with any sustainability initiatives on campus? What’s the best part of your experience?
I have been a member of the Tryon Creek Watershed Council since my arrival at L&C. Through my role, L&C students are able to engage in local efforts geared toward invasive plant removal and restoration tasks. Providing students with these events and opportunities has been the most rewarding part of my experience.
What should incoming students know about sustainability at L&C?
We are home to a robust campus community that is concerned with both local and national sustainability efforts. If there is something that you want to see improved, there are people within the community who will provide you with the tools to create change.
How does sustainability prepare students for life after L&C?
Sustainability prepares students for life after L&C because it forces us to think about the future implications of our actions and the communities they will affect.
