What three words would you use to describe L&C?
What is your internship this summer, and what are your basic duties?
I am interning with New Seasons Market this summer doing research about regenerative agriculture and aquaculture. I began my internship by developing a definition of regenerative agriculture to be used on their website and in stores. I am creating toolkits for vendors and buyers to understand why regenerative agriculture is important and what certifications are currently available. Additionally, I am writing a final report for the company about different certifications available for regenerative products, market trends, and more. I have also created presentations for store staff to understand regenerative agriculture and how to communicate to customers about it. Lastly, I will present to New Seasons leadership team about my recommendations for how they can best support regenerative agriculture and an overview of the final report.
What’s the best part of your internship?
I love being able to meet with people in the company and in the industry. I have been able to meet a lot of cool people from this internship.
How has the Sustainability Internship course supported you in finding and securing your internship?
I would not have my position without the Sustainability Internship course. It gave me so many tools that led to my success in the role and will be instrumental in my future. I was taught skills in LinkedIn, Excel, and other business tools that my academic career had lacked up until now. I really appreciated this aspect of the course.
How do you see this internship leading to a career in your chosen field and aiding your overall career development?
This internship helped me establish what I am looking for in an employer and what industry I may want to work in in the future. From this internship, I have learned that I may seek out a career in working for companies like New Seasons’ sustainability department or in the regenerative agriculture industry.
How does this internship support your interest in sustainability?
My internship is centered around regenerative agriculture, which aims to increase soil health to then increase its ability to capture carbon and therefore reduce the environmental impact the agriculture industry has.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your experience?
I loved taking this class and I really appreciate how fun Meredith and Amy made it!
