Gagged

Gagged is a student-led organization that is dedicated to offering an artistic venue for trans and queer students primarily. We also aim to uplift students of color, disabled students, and other marginalized students through giving them a stage where they are free to express themselves without judgment. We recognize drag as a place that has historically been occupied by Black and Brown transgender people, and recognize their contributions through creating an environment that is open to all. We aim to be a space that explores what has been downtrodden by the dominant culture. This is a performance venue that fulfills these values by practicing inclusion of anyone who wants to perform or support artists, no matter their identity or skill level. Leadership positions are filled by people who reflect these identities and values. Additionally, we do not censor students (bar bigotry and harmful comments) because drag exists primarily as a radical expression of self and an exploration of what it means to be queer.
