I’m Natália Juliano, a first-year International Affairs Major and Political Economy Minor. My journey from South Brazil to Portland has been shaped by my passion for social justice, education access, and global dialogue! Back home, I founded Distributing Equality to support underprivileged students in my state high school, redistributing 500 textbooks when classes were halted due to quarantine. This initiative later expanded to three cities through my work as an EcoWomen Young Ambassador. Inspired by this impact, I focused on social work across Latin America, earning a scholarship to the Latin American Leadership Academy (LALA). Later, I became a mentor, guiding underrepresented youth through the application and fundraising process to join LALA. Aiming to deepen my global perspective, I flew to UWC Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where I lived in a post-conflict society alongside peers from 70+ countries. There, I worked on Integration Jam Sessions to foster peacebuilding through music and led the Global Awareness Team, creating discussions on topics like women’s rights in Iran and Uyghur persecution in China. Now at Lewis & Clark, I’m furthering my interest in international affairs by serving on the steering committee for the 63rd IA Symposium. I’m also the Chairperson for Public Relations in the ISLC, where I work to create spaces for multicultural exchange. I’m happy to join SAA and develop connections with the Alumni community!
