What three words would you use to describe L&C?
What’s your favorite class? Why?
Value creation with Matt Fox. An assignment we did was the $20 challenge, and it sparked my interest in marketing/promotions.
What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?
I needed a change, especially coming from Stockton, California, and I felt that I would have the best opportunities here.
What do you like or find most interesting about your major?
Psychology enables me to understand why people act the way they do.
What do you like or find most interesting about your minor?
I like how many resources the entrepreneurship minor has and how there are endless opportunities for me.
Tell us about your support systems and social outlets on campus: people, activities, clubs, res halls, etc.
Football has been a big support system for me. I’ve made so many connections and memories from being on this team, and they will never get lost.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don’t overthink it—take the risk, say yes, and go for it. Life’s too short to play it safe.
How did your financial aid package influence your decision to attend Lewis & Clark?
My financial aid package influenced me a lot. I come from a different background than others, and being able to have aid definitely swayed my decision
Tell us about your involvement with the Bates Center. How do you feel that entrepreneurship and leadership integrate into and enhance a liberal arts education?
I have a lot of involvement with the Bates Center. The Bates Center sparked my interest in business and made me realize my worth. I now do marketing and management for work.
Did you visit campus before deciding to come to L&C? How did your visit influence your decision to attend?
I did visit the campus before deciding, and seeing the small class structure influenced me a lot because that is what I am used to.
What’s one of the best spots on campus?
The weight room.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Portland?
You never know who you’re going to meet; you could be meeting an NBA star one day, and the next day could be conversing with the guy who owns Portland gear.
How did you decide on your major?
My childhood wasn’t the best. I lived in a harsh neighborhood, and I knew I wanted to be able to support kids with my background and show that there is a way out.
How did you decide on your minor?
I was tired of struggling, and choosing my minor made me figure out my worth and has given me endless work opportunities.
What have been the biggest challenges you have faced at Lewis & Clark?
The weather.
What’s one of your best Lewis & Clark memories so far?
Flying my mom out to see her very first football game, and her being able to see me play.
Why do you love playing football at L&C? How do you balance athletics and academics?
I love playing football because that is how my dad and I bonded in high school. He would skip work just to come to my games, and I wanted to show him that it wasn’t for nothing. Balancing athletics and education was pretty difficult for me in my first year. I then learned how to become organized and realized that if it were easy, then everyone would be doing it.
