Garden Club

The Garden Club is an inclusive community focused on cultivating intentional garden
spaces, and tends specifically to the Forest Garden on the undergraduate campus. We
welcome any and all levels of farming experience, as we understand the gardens as a
learning space. These spaces will be defined by sustainability in a number of different
ways. We strive to be sustainable in the types of growing and harvesting practices we
enact; sustainable in terms of creating a community which lasts through years, seasons,
and generations of harvest and Lewis & Clark students; sustainable in terms of how the
community treats each other, marked by respect, a willingness to learn and teach. In
striving for these ideals we commit to clear, consistent, and active communication
between those who use and participate in the garden space, we commit to maintain and
work on projects which guide us forward, and we commit to an attitude of respect,
intentionality, inclusivity, and mindfulness. The Garden Club community strives and
supports each other with knowledge and power in a respectful way. Members of Garden
Club maintain inclusive space for our peers no matter their time availability or
experience. We commit to be willing to learn and teach. The Garden Club strives to
welcome all, but maintain accountability.
