Assigning Incomplete Grades
An incomplete grade is used when circumstances beyond the control of the student prevent completion of the coursework – medical concern, death or serious illness in the family, etc. It is intended for use when a small number of assignments or the final exam is outstanding. Students who would be required to attend additional class sections to complete the course should instead withdraw and enroll in the course in a future semester.
INSTRUCTIONS
-

- The student:
- has experienced an extenuating circumstance beyond the control of the student

- A incomplete grade award for a student who has an extenuating circumstance which falls outside of the criteria listed above requires approval from Daena Goldsmith in the Dean’s office.

- Complete the form and submit it no later than the last day of final exams. (Note that this form is due earlier than other grades.) This form must be completed by the instructor of record for the course.
Once the form has been submitted, and any necessary approvals verified, the Registrar’s Office will record the incomplete grade and due date. Copies of the form will be forwarded to the student, instructor and advisors, for their records.
Instructors have seven days from the incomplete work due date to submit a Supplemental Grade Report form to update the grade.
