Committees

Introduction to Committees

Each committee is led by a chair who attends Cabinet meetings to facilitate coordination among other committees. The chairs are elected or appointed and operate their respective committees in accordance with their bylaws to ensure effective functioning. These committees are responsible for implementing Senate legislation and also have autonomy within their budgets. Therefore, the committees are where you can witness the most dynamic and tangible efforts. If you’re interested in making a real impact and contributing to the Senate’s work, joining one of these committees is an excellent way to get involved and be a part of the action.

  • The Auditory provides resources and research on the institution of the College, manages and maintains ASB’s archives, and conducts studies as authorized by the Senate’s vote and shares relevant findings with the ASB and the undergraduate student body.
  • The Campus Activity Board organizes campus-wide activities and supports students and student organizations wanting to hold events. CAB activities are always open to all undergraduate students!
  • The Engagement & Outreach Committee shares information about ASB events and initiatives with the student body. It operates the ASB social media profiles alongside maintaining the LiveWhale website in conjunction with the Auditor. Beyond providing ASB publicity, it funds the New York Times subscription for undergraduates to utilize for their classes, leisure, or research.
  • The Equity, Inclusion, & Justice Committee is a student-run organization that exists to support historically underrepresented student groups, advocate for equitable practices on campus, conduct equity audits on policies and organizations, respond and make proactive efforts toward preventing hate and bias-related incidents, as well as protect and promote the diversity of identities and ideologies on campus.
  • The Finance Committee allocates the ASB Student Body Fee to support more than 130 student organizations. These student organizations include academic-centered organizations and student-run symposia, club sports, international and multicultural organizations, religious and spiritual organizations, special-interest organizations, and social justice and service organizations. FIN operates a limited appeals system for student organizations that are looking for additional funding that wasn’t met in prior allocation decisions. FIN focuses on appeals in the fall, while FIN orchestrates ASB Allocations in the spring.
  • The Health and Wellness Committee works to ensure that students receive effective support for anything personal health and wellness related. The Health and Wellness Committee also works to bring resources to students as needed. The HWC coordinates events such as de-stress events, yoga nights, and educational workshops. The committee also publishes resource guides on mental health resources, sexual assault and harassment resources, physical health, and other public health services such as vaccination clinics. The committee is here to best serve the needs of the students, therefore there is always a place for the student voice to make suggestions to the committee. The Health and Wellness Committee coordinates with other health related offices and student groups on campus to provide resources that students are looking for.
  • The Student Academic Affairs Board is dedicated to enhancing students’ academic experience. SAAB offers free tutoring services provided by experienced student tutors who are passionate about helping their peers succeed. SAAB also provides grant funding for student research projects, which allows students to explore their interests and contribute to the academic community. SAAB works collaboratively to ensure that all students follow academic policies.
  • The Student Policy Advisory Committee examines ASB’s governing documents and protocols to ensure they are clear, consistent, and reflective of the student body’s values and needs. It also reviews schoolwide policies to amplify student voices and advocates for student needs and interests. SPAC works closely alongside Students Rights & Responsibilities (SRR) to ensure that the student code of conduct is up-to-date and inclusive of the perspectives of the student body.
