- Deenie Bulyalert is the 2024 Emerging Leaders Award Recipient.
During their short time at Lewis and Clark, Deenie has proven themself to be committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. This has been demonstrated time and time again through both their on- and off-campus leadership positions. On campus, Deenie is heavily involved in Queer Student Union, Asian Student Union, Harm Reduction Club, and is part of the GEM community. They are also a student worker for Student Engagement. Within QSU, Deenie has taken on the extremely valuable role of coordinating events, as well as collaborating with other clubs on campus. Indigo is the 2024 recipient of the Excellence in Advocacy Leadership Award.
Indigo has gone above and beyond to ensure that students have a welcoming community, a place to call "home base," and to share the message of equity and inclusion across campus. Indigo continues to spread the message of the OEI office by planning and holding mixers for student affinity groups, working with students and student groups to elicit feedback about making the process more student-centered, equitable and intentional. Indigo strives to ensure that the most marginalized groups on campus have a voice in LC policy, updates and events. Indigo's work will help to revitalize the BART process, create sustainable plans for how we conduct bias and discrimination work and will lead the way for students to feel that this process is a valuable part of LC. -
Lucinda Law is the 2024 recipient of the Ray Warren Outstanding Senior Award.
Lucinda has demonstrated a high level of involvement across campus through affinity group leadership and participation as well as holding student leadership positions. She has a mindset innately geared towards inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility, and encourages others to develop this mindset as well; this is evident in her highly thoughtful and active participation across campus. Lucinda excels at both curating spaces for her peers to critically think about identity and impacting social systems, and spaces for peers who might be seeking a specific affinity space. Her role as one of the co-chairs for the Ray Warren Symposium and leadership in Mixed LC make this evident. As the Residential Experience Manager (REM) for Stewart-Odell and Akin, Lucinda has flexed her ability to support the organization of meaningful programs related to cultural humility for the Travel Lounge Living Learning -
Andy Fry is the 2024 recipient of the Kristi Williams Staff & Faculty Award.
Andy Fry is in his first year as an assistant professor of mathematics at LC. In his first semester at the college, he jumped immediately into action to support CAS students of color. This fall he was instrumental in co-founding LC's first ever chapter of SACNAS, the Society for the Advancment of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science. He helped build a team of faculty advisors for our new SACNAS chapter, and did outreach to students, staff and faculty to enroll new members. Prior to co-founding this SACNAS chapter, Andy supported several students in attending the national meeting of SACNAS in Portland this past October. He was surprised to learn that there was no organized cohort of LC students and faculty going to this important meeting. He reached out to various campus groups and the conference organizers for funding so that the students could attend without having to pay the registCredit: Nina Johnson
