Self-Service: Advising

Beginning Monday, February 2, 2026 Lewis & Clark College of Arts and Sciences students will use Self-Service to plan and register for classes.  WebAdvisor will no longer be accessible for student or faculty. Your direct link to Self-Service is go.lclark.edu/selfservice.

Advisors will have new Self-Service tools to assist students and a new Advising tile on the Self-Service home page.

Information and instructional documentation is provided on this page.

SELF-SERVICE INCLUDES

  • An updated and live checklist of all program requirements called My Progress.
    • My Progress replaces our outdated program evaluation tool.
  • An academic planning tool that allows students to plan courses and sections for their entire four years, and allows them to view their semester calendars on scheduling grids.
  • A registration system that can clearly display information which will help students prepare for the advising period and registration.
  • Advisor tools which allow easy review of a student’s plan, communication tools, and a view of exactly what the student sees.

HOW IT WORKS: PLAN, SEARCH AND REGISTER

  • PLAN:    Students review My Progress with their advisors and find courses and sections that will complete their requirements.  Students must place sections on their plan in order to register.
  • SEARCH:    Students find courses and sections to put on the plan.  Note that sections are iterations of courses that have assigned semesters, dates and (usually) times.
    • Courses can be added to any semester in the student’s plan, and can be used at a later date to find available sections. Students are reminded in all documentation that there is no guarantee that a specific course section will be offered. They are advised to check section listings for a specific term as schedules become available.
    • Sections (scheduled courses) are only available for the upcoming academic year.
  • REGISTER:    Students will use the sections placed on the schedule to register during their assigned registration times.  Note that a section must be planned on the student’s schedule in order to register.

ADVISING

  • There are a myriad of new tools and possible enhancements that are available.  Your use of the tool can range from using the bare minimum to taking advantage of all of the possible features.
  • We encourage you to work with the College Advising Center for recommendations on how to best serve your students.  Note that some students will want to use all the bells and whistles.  The College Advising Center, and the Guides below can assist you with using the features that best fit your students’ needs.

Registration  (Instructions for Students, but Helpful for Advisors)

  • Registering using Quick Registration
    • This is the easiest and quickest way for a student to register.  Students will need to have Advisor Approval, and they must not have any registration holds.
    • This method is required if the student needs to register during the first round for a lecture section with a separate lab and/or discussion section.
  • Registering using the Schedule
    • This method may be more helpful if the student wants to view the schedule and/or select between multiple section offerings, or add new courses and sections to your schedule.
