Changes and Exemptions

Changing Your Meal Plan

The deadline to change a meal plan is the first Friday of the academic semester for which you’d like the change to take place. Students are only permitted to change to another meal plan that they are already eligible for unless they have been granted an exception via the meal plan petition process.

The deadline to change a meal plan for Spring 2026 has passed.

Meal Plan Exemptions & Changes

A meal plan is required for every undergraduate student who lives in on-campus housing. Requests for exemptions or changes to the meal plan will be considered for a documented medical or psychological reason or for a medically prescribed diet that Bon Appétit personnel cannot provide. Underutilization due to academic or employment schedules or diets recommended by someone other than a medical doctor or licensed therapist will not qualify.

Students wishing to petition for an exemption or change to their meal plan due to a financial reason must be experiencing a current financial hardship that would be significantly alleviated by an exemption or change to the meal plan requirement. The Office of Financial Aid will be consulted.

Food service personnel are amenable to discussing special provisions or substitutions to meet dietary requirements, significant scheduling conflicts, or other individual food needs. Therefore, if you have any of these issues, contact Talish Barrow, General Manager of Bon Appétit at Lewis & Clark as your first step at (503) 768-7891 or email talish.barrow@cafebonappetit.com.

If you have questions about a meal plan change or exemption, please reach out to the Campus Living Office at living@lclark.edu.
