Living-Learning Communities FAQ
Any Lewis & Clark undergraduate student is eligible to apply to live in an LLC.
Don’t have a background in the LLC you would like to apply to? That’s okay - enthusiastic curiosity goes a long way! LLCs are a way for residents to gather to learn about new things and share knowledge with each other. In your application, please tell us what you hope to gain from your LLC experience and what makes you excited about the LLC.
Specific requirements pertain to Travel Lounge & Launchpad LLCs.
Submit your application via our common LLC application If you have questions about any of our LLCs or the application process, please contact living@lclark.edu for more information.
Campus Living staff review applications for continuing students around the end of the spring semester.
Continuing students will be notified of their application status and can select their housing placement during room selection from communities where they have been accepted.
Please keep an eye out for Campus Living email outreach for up-to-date information.
Continuing residents are an important part of our LLC communities and provide valuable mentorship and support to our first-time LLC residents. If you are interested in living in your LLC another year you will apply via the common application and share why you would like to return.
Single semester students will be assigned to Stewart (unless they have specific accommodations or are a graduating senior), where the Travel Lounge Living Learning Community is located Learn more about single semester booking information here.
Yes - anyone with an interest in language learning, travel, and cultural exchange is welcome to apply and live in the Global Languages and Cultures LLC.
There is no additional financial commitment necessary to live in an LLC. There are some additional programmatic opportunities that may involve an additional financial commitment (such as a trip off campus or a workshop at the Platteau), however these are optional, and scholarships may be available.
LLCs offer many valuable learning opportunities, resident collaborations, and other perks to residents. You will have a team of student staff dedicated to offering events and programmatic opportunities for your LLC. Some LLCs, such as VAPA, have physical spaces that foster the LLC theme such as the Platteau Student Art Center. LLC residents enjoy increased contact with faculty and staff of interest and have experiences that complement their classroom learning.
If you are part of a student group and want to connect with an LLC, please contact the Area Director that oversees the LLC you are interested in working with.
Although there are no formal leadership positions in LLCs, we invite any residents of LLCs to connect with their RAs to help plan and execute events!
You and your roommate are both welcome to apply to the LLC. Continuing students can opt into a room together during room selection, and new students can indicate on their housing application that they would like to live with a specific person. Your ability to pull in a roommate that has not applied to live in your LLC will depend on the space available in the LLC, which varies year-to-year for each community. For this reason, we recommend all roommates apply.
So long as they have also applied and been accepted to live in the LLC, this is definitely possible!
For the 2024-2025 LLC application cycle, continuing students will be notified of their application status on April 5th. New students will find out about their LLC acceptance in June.
